Versatile, environmentally friendly waterborne adhesive dispersions
Waterborne adhesive technology has attracted significant attention as it is a more environmentally conscious approach to laminating and bonding. Water-based dispersions from Covestro have properties that meet or exceed those of traditional solvent-based systems.
Waterborne polyurethane and polychloroprene dispersions from Covestro provide improved adhesive processing and performance properties as well as a more sustainable profile.
Dispercoll® dispersions are used for one-component (1K) thermo-activated and room temperature, including wet-on-wet, bonding adhesives. They offer:
- Excellent initial bond strength
- High final bond strength
- Good thermal, humidity and chemical resistance
One-component latent-reactive systems based on Dispercoll® U polyurethanes have the properties of two-component (2K) systems. They are utilized as dispersions, precoatings or reactive adhesive films.
Dispercoll® dispersions can also be formulated in combination with Desmodur® D isocyanate crosslinkers as two-component systems, providing the opportunity to fine-tune the final adhesive properties to meet challenging application needs.
Dispercoll® S nano-silica dispersions are used with Dispercoll® C polychloroprene dispersions to impart improved heat resistance and initial wet bond strength.
Compared to other water-based adhesive dispersions, our Dispercoll® products offer:
- Lower odor
- Greater storage stability
- Good compatibility with other emulsion systems.
