Isocyanate crosslinkers enhance adhesive performance and capabilities
Although adhesives based on hydroxyl polyurethanes are often processed as one-component (1K) systems, additional chemical crosslinking is often recommended for enhancing performances. Use of an isocyanate greatly improves the thermal stability of the adhesive bond. It also enhances both substrate adhesion and the overall resistance to hydrolysis, solvents, plasticizers, oils and fats.
For many applications, the individual properties of Desmocoll® adhesive raw materials from Covestro are used to achieve desired performance, when applied as a one-component (1K) system. If additional bonding strength or resistance properties are required, our Desmodur® RE, RFE, RC or RN polyisocyanate crosslinkers can be added to fine-tune properties, for a variety of requirements.
