Producing primers and adhesion promoters
Pergut® chlorinated rubber offers superior adhesive bond strength
Pergut® chlorinated polymers from Covestro are used to produce heavy duty rubber-to-metal adhesives for a wide array of applications.
Pergut® chlorinated rubber is supplied as white powder and contains between 64.5 percent and 67 percent chlorine. It has a density of 1.6 g/cm3. Varying molecular weight – and, consequently, composite viscosity – provides the differentiating factor of the individual grades.
Due to its high polarity, Pergut® is especially suitable for the production of primers and adhesion promoters for rubber-metal bonding. Pergut® S20 to S90 grades are primarily used to formulate anti-corrosion paints and used as additives in solvent-based contact adhesives. High viscosity grades Pergut® S130 and S170 are often employed as raw materials for rubber-metal adhesion.
Our proprietary process guarantees that the product has an extremely low content of tetrachloromethane (CCl4 ). Pergut® contains less than 0.005 percent pbw of tetrachloromethane and complies with global regulatory requirements.
