A proven bond

Industry-leading raw materials for solvent-based adhesive systems

Solvent-based systems have long been established as a proven bonding technology for a wide variety of adhesives. Covestro offers raw materials for the production of a number of reactive and non-reactive adhesives, as well as polychloroprene systems.

Solventborne

Combinations of Desmodur® polyisocyanates with Desmophen® and Baycoll® polyols  represent the market standard for solvent-based, two-component (2K) adhesive systems for a range of applications. With a multitude of possible combinations, they can be adjusted to accommodate any required bonding speed or processing conditions.

Bonds are suitable for nearly all substrates, resisting mechanical stress and high temperatures while remaining flexible. Resistance to oils and solvents makes them especially popular in the automotive industry, where they’re used effectively for glazing adhesives and large surface applications.

  • Desmocoll® are hydroxyl-polyester polyurethane granules and dissolved in organic solvents. The popularity of Desmocoll®-based adhesives comes from their outstanding adhesion on a range of substrates. This characteristic makes them particularly suitable for footwear, packaging and furniture industries.
  • Pergut® is the trade name for a group of chlorinated rubber materials that can be used as a primer or additive in adhesives with Baypren® chloroprene rubber.  This combination improves initial bonding strength, as well as providing optimal oil, chemical, ozone and weather resistance.
